Day 77

Yo Oddasee Sightseers,

As you have seen not every day outdoes the previous one. There are even days when nothing extraordinary passes before us. The last couple of days were dominated by the standard sights and sounds of traveling from one point to another with one very special exception.

We left Susan's family after a group breakfast. There were eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes for the road. A few photos, the "thank yous" and good-bye hugs. It was great to meet her family and see the world that shaped her into the curious soul she is today.

Then it was off for a slight side track as we headed a bit south to see Rodney's old friend, Laura McIntosh. She lives in Bloomington on property that has been in her family for years. Her home was originally a log cabin that has had many additions to create what is now a truly unique home that exudes Laura-ness in every room. It's quaint, beautiful and situated on a back road by an idyllic forest along a small creek.
Laura is yet another ex-Thunderstruck-ite. She was actually the first person to work with me at that long lost art emporium. My memories from those days will always be connected to her presence and help. It was great to see her and it seemed just like yesterday when we were laughing at another bizarre encounter with the tourii. I think that will be the last leg of the Thunderstruck Reunion Tour. The hugs alone made it hard to leave.

Our journey through Indiana certainly included many exceptional people, sights and happenings. I mean really, from the hell at the Henager Museum to the wonders of French Lick and then the history/photo-thon in the medical museum on to the Fourth of July festivities in nearby Zionsville - Wow! Independence Day fireworks and music in America's heartland, Indianapolis.... oh Americana. (We counted, only six, including R., tattooed semi-freaks in the entire sea of wholesome and smiling festival goers).

Below is a mish-mash of miscellaneous photos from various spots along our Indiana trail.

Love, corn, windmills, duck pins, camel rides and endless fields of greeeeeeen,

Rodney and Susan

Susan -- Although this time it was 4 nights and 3 days, visits "home" are never long enough.  I didn't get to show Rodney hardly any of my growing-up places, or a truly extraordinary cemetery called Crown Hill, see a movie, play frisbee golf, nor explore the nearby Eagle Creek Park.  There is just never enough time it seems; we did get in lots of meet the family time, which was good.  There's 1 more brother in Wisconsin and lots of interesting outsider exploration coming in the next week.
