Day 101

See below for Saturday get together details.

Oddaseemly,

Here's an idea..... let's walk around in a treeless dusty old structure on a very hot (I think it's Satan's birthday) day for fun. Well that's what your devoted Oddaseer must do. The history buff in S. compelled us to pull off the highway to visit Bent's Fort near La Junta for a bit of the old education and heatstroke. Seemed like a good idea at the time.... actually it was.

No need for a history lesson here. The short version is that this fort served mostly asa  trading post built 1833 (pre-Indian wars) and was restored in 1976. The rooms were filled with new and old accurate accoutrements of the times. Blissfully the thick adobe walls and breeze made the interior spaces quite comfortable.

R. could not help but let the arty photog dominate the documentarian. The light and shadows put the black and white filter on his eyes; really, I just couldn't help it -- my apologies to Cris Pulos, Carol Dass and Lee Manning. Let's just let the snapshots and attempts at photography speak for themselves.

Love and dry heat,

Rodney and Susan

ps. Did I mention it was hot? R. could tell we had left the humidity behind as now back in the Southwest the urge to pick ones nose had returned.
PPS (Susan) -- Oh, brother!!!  This I didn't know this about Rodney.

PICNIC PLAN - Saturday  July 31st at Antler's Park (across the street from Guiseppe's Depot on S. Sierra Madre across from PPCC)
Noon - 3:00-ish or whatever feels right.

The goal? Cross paths with some Oddaseers. It's just kind of a chat and munch not really a potluck. Bring snacks, beer, juice or veggies; whatever you need to get through the day. Lobster tails and homemade chocolate chip cookies would be nice. There will be live music (a Doors tribute band and then Bob Dylan said he'd stop by) , free drugs, an inflatable bouncy cage for adults along with numerous amusement park rides. Translation: A couple of chairs with Rodney and Susan sitting in them next to a cooler. Drop by for a quick "hey" or hang out all afternoon. We'll be there unless the monsoons arrive early and in that case, go to Plan "B" Phantom Canyon.
