Day 96 (more)

Yo Oddawatchaneers,

Before we jump into our daily update, here's a news flash:
It seemed the time to head homeward had arrived but upon reflection, we have decided to come visit each and every one of you that has been following along our Oddasee path. This means we will be stopping by unannounced so that you can feed us, offer free accommodations and reschedule your life around entertaining us and fulfilling our every whim. So, clean the house and prepare to sleep on the sofa because we NEED the master bedroom. Keep it simple and prepare some of the four course meals in advance...... we will drop by sometime. Gee thanks; thank goodness because we will never have to go back to being normal.
Ha ha jokey guy..... Okay that is obviously not going to happen nor can we visit all the people we would like to. So, we have come up with sort of plan to cross paths with as many of you as we can. Some of you live far far away from Colorado or New Mexico; this plan leaves you out and for that we are sorry. In the name of keeping things easy going and in step with our spontaneous and mostly unplanned itinerary, we have an idea for being available for at least a few of you Oddaseer folks along our path.

We would like to have a basic group picnic/potluck in a park somewhere in Colo. Springs (kind of the middle) on the afternoon of Saturday June 31st. This means that there is no need to meet at some bar/restaurant or someone's home. No host or hostess. No preparing of food for the masses. Just a casual way to cross paths. The idea is to just hang out for an afternoon and everyone can just come and go as available. It'll all be laid back and mellow man.....
What we need are some ideas of where to meet. A park near downtown would be ideal and one with a pavilion for shade or rain cover (as the case may be) might be best. Please let us know if you have any suggestions. Email or call 719.334.0087
Once we get a location and time set, we'll let you know. Then if you'd like to meet Susan and hear more of our tales from the road -- we promise there will be no slideshow of our trip to Dubuque or Cancun. Just friends, grub and laughs. We realize that in the middle of summer most of you will have plans but hopefully some of you can stop by. Again our apologies to those of you too far away for the Oddasee debriefing day; we'll catch you in the future.

Details to follow>>>>>>>>

Now for the daily pics and thoughts for the day ---
Just for fun, here are some miscellaneous photographs from various spots in and around Eureka Springs. Once again, you will see some recurring themes from our Oddasee journey. Unexpectedly, there seems to be some things that just keep popping into the viewfinder. As you have seen, the automobile, trucks and other types of conveyances are omnipresent in America; that is not completely surprising but the variety has been. Even more unexpected is the frequency with which we come across dolls and dummies (I tell ya', them friggin' things are following us) everywhere. Question: How come so many of them are so damn creepy and photogenic?? Maybe the photog is just twisted and can't help himself. Hmmm? That sounds possible. Below you will see stuff from the some of the many shops and "museums" we found on the hilly streets of Eureka Springs.

Notes:
1) The "Twice Born" shop cracked us up. A retail store devoted entirely to used and new Christian clothing; now that's a market niche. Most of the items were intentional attempts at being "cool and hip" within that specific genre. There were hats that said "Satan is a Nerd" in red lettering on black hats. There were total "Twilight" ripoff t-shirts and various other plays on words. Sorry but it was very funny to us heathens.
2) In addition to the quintessential antique scary dolls and dummies (I swear they must be stowaways on our truck) there were these hyper-realistic lifestyle infant babies in glass cases in one "collectibles" shop. Yikes! Do people really want these baby "Children of the Corn" Stephen King creations living in their homes.... Double Yikes!

That wraps up our time in Arkansas and we had a blast. It's westward ho......
Please drop us a note if you have any ideas for the park get together. Thanks.

Love and creepy doll eyes. See some of you soon.....

Scary doll Divining Rod and SusieKewpie (watch out for those mesmerizing eyes)
