2010/05/01 Day Fourteen

How ya'll doin?

Today was a slow and mellow Texas day. Caught a few extra zzzzzzz after our late night in Austin. Not much on our Oddasee radar down this way but we did make a couple of stops. One was at "Snake Farm" a sort of roadside attraction that aspires to be mini-zoo. Not sad or wakita/pathetic but not quite bad enough to be good. Then we headed toward the Cascade Caverns in Boerne (note: Texans do not pronounce it like "Born" as in "Borne Identity" but rather like "Burny" in the intellectual film "Weekend at Bernies") but alas for the first time, we were did not make in time for a tour..... Bummer as this had the potential to be full on tacky and bad on a level we appreciate. It was a sleepy little spot and obviously not drawing the same crowd as nearby Six Flags over "Fixin-to-ville". Oh well we kind of relished a day of rest for our overwhelmed eyes and curious spirits.

So we mosied our way down to the Floresville to visit with Susan's old friends Carol and Tom. Not sure what's on tomorrow's agenda. Probably a bit of good ole tourism with visits to the Alamo and Riverwalk. There are a few historic missions and a "Ripley's Believe It or Not" (thank God/Allah/Buddha/Billy Bob Thornton). We will also try to find the "Toilet Seat Art Museum", Beatrice Ximinez' "Concrete Zoo" and possibly the remnants of an old circus museum. Wish us luck.....

Rested and Ready for More,
